Terms and Conditions of Deposit

The following conditions are the sole conditions upon which articles and baggage is accepted for deposit.

  1. "Excess Baggage" means Excess Baggage Group Ltd (Company Number: 04805687) and any subsidiary company of that entity from time to time.

  2. All baggage deposited, and where relevant any articles contained within such baggage, must:

    1. be the personal property of the individual depositing it and is left at their sole risk;

    2. be suitably packaged for deposit, appropriately sealed, contained and without extruding articles; and

    3. not contain any article deemed hazardous or unsuitable by Excess Baggage (at its complete discretion), including without limitation: drugs, solvents, weapons, jewellery, explosives, food, live animals, fragile or perishable articles or articles the value of which when aggregated with all other articles in the baggage, exceeds a value of £200.

  3. Excess Baggage reserves the right to:

    1. request sight of suitable identification, boarding passes or tickets where appropriate;

    2. remove and/or refuse to deposit any baggage at its sole discretion;

    3. inspect all baggage, and the contents of all baggage, at its sole discretion;

    4. keep a record of all baggage inspected;

    5. sell, destroy or otherwise deal with any baggage not collected within 3 months of deposit and to retain any proceeds of such sale or other disposal;

    6. charge a further fee for any excess period the baggage is deposited beyond that agreed at the date of deposit;

    7. destroy or otherwise dispose of any baggage (or any part thereof) that Excess Baggage reasonably considers to be a risk to the security or health and safety of its employees, agents or other representatives or to the general public or where such baggage is considered to breach these terms and conditions.

  4. Excess Baggage may hold baggage at the office at which it was deposited, or elsewhere in its absolute discretion.

  5. A ticket will be issued for each item of baggage deposited. Once deposited, articles cannot be retrieved separately from the baggage.

  6. Baggage will be returned on presentation of the ticket and payment of any outstanding sums due, during opening hours of the venue at which the ticket was issued and Excess Baggage is entitled to rely on the ticket as proof of ownership or of authority to collect. Excess Baggage may return the baggage to an individual without a ticket if Excess Baggage is reasonably satisfied (at its absolute discretion) that the individual is the depositor or has the depositor's authority. In such cases the individual concerned will be required to provide sufficient proof of their identify and sign an indemnity disclaimer of Excess Baggage's liability. Any such return may only be authorised by a Supervisor or Manager and shall be recorded accordingly. Excess Baggage accepts no liability for baggage returned to the incorrect person.

  7. Excess Baggage shall have no liability for:

    1. any act, neglect or fault caused by Excess Baggage employees not within the scope of their employment;

    2. loss of data from any electronic or storage device;

    3. loss or damage to any baggage (or article therein) deposited contrary to these terms and conditions;

    4. loss, damage, mis-delivery or detention of any baggage, and all articles included therein, above £200 per ticket issued; or

    5. special, general, indirect or consequential loss or damage or loss of profits.

  8. Baggage is deposited in accordance with any laws, regulations or byelaws applicable to the venue at which the baggage is deposited, including, without limitation, any imposed by the owner or operator of that venue.

  9. Excess Baggage staff have no discretion to vary or amend these terms and conditions.
